Dr. Roberts practices in security clearance law, patent, copyright, and trademarks, and litigation related to these areas. He is extensively involved in invention protection, business counseling, start-up advising, export control issues, qualifying personnel for security clearances and litigation and business dealings. Dr. Roberts also provides litigation support to other law firms in the form of patent opinions, including appellate work, to clients in federal, state, and administrative law courts in all of these areas. Dr. Roberts meets with patent and trademark examiners to resolve issues affecting approval of applications. Dr. Roberts possesses active Security Clearances and regularly represents clients before Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA) and other intelligence agency Administrative Boards regarding security clearances at all levels. Dr. Roberts negotiates with senior level officials of U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, Treasury, and Defense regarding export applications and licenses. He also interacts with senior level officials of Department of Justice and Office of U.S. Trade Representative to enforce client rights in intellectual property around the world. Extensively involved in software contracts (drafting and negotiation) and related patent prosecution, and contract drafting concerning hardware and software development.

Participated in and managed numerous research efforts
involving in-house and government contractor resources
in the areas of software and hardware development,
imaging systems, and mapping. Qualified in high
performance aircraft as a sensor system operator. As
Branch and Deputy Division Chief, conceived and managed
an extensive image exploitation software development
research program. Managed a staff of research scientists
to accomplish long-term R&D goals and participated on
numerous interagency working and advisory groups
relating to remote sensing.
