Dr. Glenn L. Gittelson, one of The Marbury Law Group's clients, was recently awarded a patent (US Pat. No. 7,429,175) on a new method of performing dental implant surgery. This type of surgery allows for a biocompatible structure to be surgically placed in the mouth of a patient to serve as a support for a new permanent prosthetic tooth. Such surgery is rapidly evolving as a way to completely replace teeth that have been damaged or require replacement for other reasons. Dr. Gittelson's invention allows for proper placement and alignment of the prosthetic tooth during surgery. The market for dental implant surgery is rapidly approaching $1 billion annually in the US alone, and about $3.5 billion worldwide in 2008. Dr. Gittelson's invention will be a significant improvement to the manner in which such surgeries take place.

The Marbury Law Group, PLLC announced its formation on January 1, 2009.

In December 2008, Jon Roberts won a security clearance hearing on behalf of a client before the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals, the DoD tribunal hearing security clearance cases. In a case involving a rejection of a clearance for some arrests occurring 6-7 years prior and alleged workplace infractions, Jon was able to show the DOHA Judge that not only were the allegations of workplace infractions false, but that the client has taken concrete steps to rehabilitate himself and give the court conficence that prior infractions of the law were a result of certain specific circumstances that were not likely to recur. The Marbury Law Group focuses its practice, in part, in helping individuals and businesses with their respective security clearance problems.

On October 1, 2008, Shauna Wertheim presented to DC Bar members the CLE course, "How to Protect and Enforce Trademark Rights." This was the eighth year she taught this course with co-presenter Steve Hollman, partner at Hogan & Hartson.

RM&W was recently listed among the "Top Trademark Firms" in Intellectual Property Today's May 2008 issue.
